Each day during our class Read Aloud we have been introducing the students to reading strategies that they can practice during Read to Self. We use the CAFE menu to sort our strategies. CAFE stands for comprehension, accuracy, fluency and expand vocabulary. Today we discussed the importance of knowing sight words to help with accuracy and fluency. The grade three sight word list is below. Students should read through the list and keep track of words they are still learning. Putting 5-10 sight words onto cards to play various games such as concentration, Go Fish, and BINGO are fun ways to learn sight words. Once your child recognizes those words quickly then they can choose 5-10 other words.
